On May 5, 2025, the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston rejected the Trump administration’s attempt to revoke the temporary legal status of approximately 400,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. These individuals had been granted two-year humanitarian parole under President Joe Biden’s administration. The Department of Homeland Security aimed to terminate this status as part of a broader immigration crackdown, but the court upheld a previous ruling by U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani, who found that the blanket revocation lacked necessary case-by-case review. This decision allows the migrants to retain their legal status while the lawsuit continues.
