At least 13 people have been killed and 92 others injured in various incidents across Pakistan due to heavy rains and powerful windstorms that swept through several provinces, according to local officials.
The country’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the casualties occurred primarily in Punjab and Balochistan provinces, where wind speeds exceeded 100 km/h, bringing down rooftops, trees, and power lines.
In Punjab, the most populous province, multiple homes were damaged as strong winds ripped through villages and towns. Roof collapses were cited as a major cause of fatalities. In Balochistan, authorities confirmed several injuries caused by falling debris and infrastructure damage in remote areas.
Emergency responders and local authorities have been deployed to provide relief and assess damage. Search-and-rescue operations are ongoing in some of the hardest-hit regions. The NDMA said it is coordinating with provincial agencies to ensure timely aid and restore essential services.
Weather authorities have warned of further rain and wind in parts of the country over the coming days, advising residents—especially in low-lying and poorly built areas—to exercise caution.
