Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported on May 25 that its forces had shot down 110 Ukrainian drones during the night, in what it described as a large-scale aerial assault.
According to the ministry’s statement, 70 drones were intercepted over the Crimean Peninsula, which has been under Russian occupation since 2014. The remainder were reportedly downed over the Krasnodar and Volgograd regions in southern Russia.
The Russian government has not reported any casualties or major damage resulting from the drone attacks.
Russian officials also claimed that six uncrewed boats launched by Ukraine in the Black Sea were destroyed before they reached their targets.
Ukraine has not commented on the reported drone operations. Independent verification of Russia’s claims has not been made available.
Drone warfare has become a regular feature of the ongoing conflict, with both sides using unmanned aerial systems for surveillance and strike missions. Russia frequently accuses Ukraine of launching drone attacks against military and logistical infrastructure on Russian territory and in occupied areas of Ukraine.
No additional details were provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense regarding the nature of the drone targets or whether the attacks were concentrated on specific military facilities.
The situation remains developing as regional authorities in affected areas continue assessments.
