Israeli airstrikes across Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 40 Palestinians on Saturday, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ongoing military operations have intensified humanitarian concerns, with the death toll in Gaza surpassing 52,000 since the conflict began in October 2023.
In Cairo, a Hamas delegation is engaged in ceasefire negotiations mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. While some progress has been reported, key issues remain unresolved. Hamas has expressed willingness to release remaining Israeli hostages if Israel halts its military campaign, but Israel insists on the hostages’ release without committing to ending the war.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. A near-total blockade has been in place for nearly 60 days, severely limiting access to food and medicine. Over 3,000 aid trucks are awaiting entry into Gaza, and the World Food Programme reports that food supplies are nearly depleted, with over 80% of the population relying on charity kitchens.
As both sides remain entrenched in their positions, the international community watches with concern, urging restraint to prevent further escalation between the two parties.
