Five members of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were killed in an ISIL (ISIS) attack in eastern Syria’s Deir Az Zor province. SDF spokesperson Farhad Shami described the incident as “one of the deadliest” against the group in recent times. The attack underscores concerns about ISIL’s ongoing resurgence in the region.
