On May 10, 2025, the leaders of Britain, France, Germany, and Poland visited Kyiv to demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia. This visit coincided with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Victory Day parade in Moscow, which emphasized Russia’s alliance with China and defiance toward Western isolation.
During their meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the European leaders discussed a U.S.-European proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, aiming to create a platform for peace negotiations. They jointly stated, “Alongside the U.S., we call on Russia to agree to a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire to create the space for talks on a just and lasting peace.”
The visit also included discussions on the establishment of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian leadership for crimes of aggression, reflecting Europe’s commitment to accountability and justice.
This diplomatic engagement underscores Europe’s unified stance in supporting Ukraine and seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
