As Israeli firefighters battle what may be the largest wildfires in the nation’s history, disturbing messages are emerging on social media that appear to glorify — and even incite — the destruction.

Earlier today, Hamas posted a message via its Telegram channel, calling on Palestinians to “burn whatever you can of groves, forests, and settler homes.” The statement went further, urging widespread acts of arson:

“Youth of the West Bank, youth of Jerusalem, and those inside Israel, set their cars ablaze… Gaza awaits the revenge of the free.”

The campaign of incitement has also been given a name on social media — “Flames of the Flood” — a chilling echo of the October 7th massacre that Hamas called the “Flood of Al-Aqsa.”

The narrative was reinforced by Akhbar Filastin, a pro-Palestinian news outlet with over 112,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), which posted:

“A call to the revolutionary youth and all the heroes of the West Bank.. Settlers’ homes and the surrounding areas are your target. Burn them with your Molotov cocktails and set fire to the grass near the settlement outposts.”

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether there is a direct operational link between these online calls and the fires currently spreading across parts of Israel, but the timing and rhetoric are drawing sharp concern from officials and analysts alike.

The situation remains fluid, and The World Standard will continue to report developments as they unfold.
