An Israeli opposition lawmaker was forcibly removed from the Knesset after delivering a strong condemnation of the ongoing war in Gaza during a parliamentary session on May 22, 2025.

According to footage released by The Guardian, the MP interrupted a government speaker and accused Israel’s leadership of pursuing policies that were, in their words, “morally indefensible” and “leading the country into global isolation.” The statement sparked immediate backlash from members of the ruling coalition.

Knesset security personnel were called in and physically escorted the MP out of the chamber as shouting erupted between lawmakers from opposing sides.

The name of the MP was not released in the video clip, but they were identified as a member of the left-leaning opposition bloc known for its criticism of the government’s military operations in Gaza.

The ejection came as debates intensified in Israel’s parliament over the scope and direction of the ongoing campaign in Gaza, which has drawn widespread international criticism and increased domestic political tension.

Government representatives defended the removal, saying that the MP’s conduct violated parliamentary decorum and disrupted official proceedings. Opposition leaders, however, denounced the act as an attempt to silence dissent and suppress legitimate criticism of the war.

The Knesset has not yet announced whether any formal disciplinary action will be taken against the MP.

Tensions in Israel’s legislature continue to reflect broader divisions in society over the war’s human cost, military goals, and diplomatic consequences.
